This is my analysis of what it is to be Danish in 2007 in the light of the Danish general election that was held on 13 November 2007. At this election the rightwing of Danish politics was elected to rule Denmark for the third time. If nothing else, it tells something about the Dane and what it is to be Danish.
Ones the Danes was respected for their tolerance and the help we offered in forrend countries to help others that wasn't as lucky as we were. We were not amongst the richest countries in the world, but we did more than many other contries did that were both bigger and richer than we were. That has changed.
Once we welcomed refugees from wars around the world. Victims of torture and persecution etc. because of their political views, their skincolor or religion was given safety in Denmark. That has changed.
Once we were in the lead when it comes to alternative power. We did ressearch in alternatives to oil, gas and other types of fossil fuel. We could with confidence guide others because we knew something about the matter. We exported our knowledge on the field before there were something called climate politic. That has changed too.
Once we were against war and only reluctantly sent soldiers out, but instead choose to send equipment if UN asked for our help. We did what we could to promote peace and avoid actions of war. That has also changed.
Once it was so in Denmark that you could get help for your education and get treatment for physical and psychological illnesses without paying for it. That is about to change.
The general election of 2007 came to be about opponions. Did the Danes want better climate? Did the Danes want to treat others with respect? Did the Danes want peace in the world and stop supporting wars?
It was also an election about ideals. Did the Danes want to continue the egocentric ideal build into liberalism? Liberalism is: Everyone is the creator of their own happiness. That is: I am myself closest... Or in its most extreme form: I have enough in myself.
Or did the Danes want to stand together and help others, like in the socialistic ideal? Socialism is: Together we are strong. That is: If we help each other we can achieve greater things than if we did not.
It was pure and simple an election about if the Danes were social or egocentric.
The result can be found here: FV2007, Landsresultat![]()
Liberalistic parties: C,O,V,Y - 1,844,703 votes
Socialistic parties: A,B,F,K,Ø - 1,584,155 votes
Votes in support for liberalism: 260.548 votes
If you are nice, you would say that the Danes are divided people that don't know where they stand. But because its the third time in a row that a liberalistic government has been chosen I say that the Danes want the liberalistic ideal.
And not only that, the Danes wants more restrictions towards immigrants and refugees. Because electoral register O, The Danish peoplesparty, that stands for lesser help to the few that succeed in escaping persecution and torture in their homecountry, have become stronger with 34,585 more votes than at the previous election.
The Dane is Liberalistic. That means that the Dane the following wants:
I could keep going, but its quite simple: The Dane is a selfish little bastard that only cares for himself. He doesn't care that there are less fortunate people around the world. Even inside Denmark. He doesn't care as long as he doesn't have to look at it.
But there is also another Denmark, luckily. Its the Denmark that hides in the 1,584,155 votes that wasn't enough to end the liberalistic regime in Denmark. It is the social Denmark - the social Danes.
The social Danes wants the following:
I'm a socialist. And I'm proud of it. I vote Socialistic Peoplesparty (F) and am very proud and happy that we got so many votes at this election. Almost the double in seats in the Danish Parliament shows that we are many that wants a socialistic society.
And the fact that I have a foreign girlfriend makes me have a personal dislike for the strict politic we have at this area right now. Although I also before I met my girl was strongly against laws, that prevents people that common humanity and decency dictates must have help.
I think Denmark needs people from outside with or without education. There are no problems that can't be solved in a good way, if you want to. All foreigners have something to give Denmark. If they don't have an education we can give them one. That's much better than to suck all the educated people away from foreign countries. People that should have helped to build up the countries to same level as us. And when they first have gotten the education they will give back to us.
Humans wants to help others and to work. Sometimes we just need a little friendly help to find our place in life. But when we have found that place it gives us a strength that benefits those who helped us.
